We, as a collective, have forgotten how to care for mothers. Though if we lean into the road map that ancient cultures have gifted humanity, we can serve and resource mothers to thrive.

As a postpartum doula I ‘hold’ the mother as the centre of her family. My nurturing, compassionate and honouring nature offers you a holistic postpartum experience, tending to your physical, emotional and spiritual bodies.

I offer postpartum planning and preparation sessions, either on their own and in conjunction with postpartum support packages. These sessions are educational, informative and explore your specific circumstances to bring the most nourishment possible.

During in-home postpartum visits:

+ I can offer you nourishing meals & teas – which are perfect for the newborn mothers physiology rooted in TCM and Ayurvedic tradition.
+ I can offer you warming practices and ritual.
+ I can offer light house duties, including laundry, dishes, bedding, and general tiding up.
+ I can offer you informational support as needed around breastfeeding, maternal wellness and infant care, and can refer to other specialised practitioners as required.

What to expect

Antenatal Sessions

The main focus is preparing & planning for time after you birth your baby - mentally & physically. 

We usually connect from around 28 weeks. These sessions are educational & informational, with practical & emotional support woven through. 

We will: 

  • Explore your desires, expectations and wishes for your postpartum period, and ways we can work together to cultivate this. 

  • Explore cross-cultural practices that nourish postpartum mothers, and how you can incorporate elements into your postpartum period. 

  • Identify which rituals you would like to experience in your postpartum. 

  • Talk about the role of your partner and ways that they can feel prepared and solid in their support 

  • Plan for the types of meals you would like to have made FOR you, and your family. 

  • Help you set up a meal train and other systems to decrease the mental and physical load. 

  • We can also build-a-basket of some mothers' essentials. 

During the 2nd visit we can continue to explore postpartum preparations; and/or I can offer practical support such as meal preparations or nourishment for the mother's mind, body & soul. Naturally I will continue to hold space for you as you journey through the last weeks of birth and for whatever may arise during this time.

Postpartum Sessions

Each visit is approx 3 hours each, and can be twice weekly, weekly or fortnightly. I will check in with you a day or two prior to the visit, to see what elements would be most supportive for you. The herbs, oil, teas are all included.

I am there for you and supporting you to feel the peace, ease and nourishment of the time after birth by:

  • Holding space without judgement as you navigate the changes, nurture your child and yourself in ways that feel aligned and peaceful

  • Supporting you to grow your confidence & intuition bringing you back to your own inner compass

  • Offering a loving listening ear as you explore the challenges and celebrate the wins - seeing the beauty and growth in all the moments

  • Nourishing you with meals, snacks and postpartum teas

  • Debriefing your birth & transition as mother

  • Breastfeeding support

  • Gentle guidance on newborn care 

  • Light housework

  • Hold baby whilst you nap

  • Accompany you to appointments

  • Being with siblings and/or pets

  • Referrals to other health practitioners, such as lactation consultants, naturopaths, body workers etc, as needed

  • Nourishing you with ritual

Nourishing Rituals

A range of nourishing rituals:

  • Mother Warming’ with moxibustion (rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine)

  • Instruction & offering abhyanga massage with black sesame seed oil (rooted in Ayurvedic Medicine)

  • Castor oil packs for scar healing (c-section / perineum)

  • Offering herbal teas / soaks / steams

  • Creating relaxing & reflective spaces to rest, restore & rejuvenate with guided meditations, sound, mantra, journaling, & breath practice

This is a 3 hour in-home visit offering practical, emotional and loving support for mothers in the first 6 months after birth. 

Nourishing elements that can be woven into the postpartum care session:

  • Cooking / meal preparations

  • Abhyanga with organic black sesame seed oil (rooted in Ayurveda)

  • 'Mother Warming' with Moxibustion (rooted in TCM)
